Wolf and Whippet
1-2-1 DOG TRAINING
HOW WE CAN HELP:
Suzy from Wolf and Whippet is a certified INTODogs Trainer that offers one to one training consultations and sessions to clients needing support. Working alongside you and your dog with teaching training skills, helping you identify the function of behaviour, emotion and context and develop a training plan, using science-based methods. We only use positive, reward-based training methods, no punishment and firmly stand with the Pet Professionals Guild's ethos of No Pain, No Force, No Fear. The methods we use are force-free, looking at current scientific research, using positive reinforcement, classical and operant conditioning.
We have completed courses with the IMDT, OCN assessed diploma based studies, as well as working with dog behaviourists such as Dr Isla Fishburn and Dr Michelle Lord. Plus practical based studies such as ScentworkUK, Canine Hoopers UK, Canine Hoopers World and IMDT instructor courses. This in conjunction with other dog behaviour workshops and certificates, as well as a passion for holistic approaches. Further information on completed courses, certificates and training can be seen on our CPD page. We continually learn and complete further studies, as well as much reading within the field of Modern Dog Science and Training. Keeping up to date with behavioural science is key to providing modern dog training for every client.
A few behaviour and training issues we can help you and your pet with are: Settling and Calming, Crate Training, Loose-Lead walking, Wait, Leave and Drop, Leave, Recall, Husbandry- for e.g. putting a harness on without creating stress, Target training and Scentwork for enrichment. We also offer a 1-2-1 Puppy Package that focuses on everyday life skills, enrichment and cooperative care.
For Behaviour Based Training, looking at sensitivity, or perhaps separation-related behaviours will require a longer consultation where an individual training plan is included as well as full support. More in-depth assessments are required for behaviours related to stress, anxiety and fear which may require a veterinary check or referral to a recommended accredited APBC/CCAB clinical behaviourist that we work closely with.

DOG TRAINING FOLLOW UP SESSION
Practical 1-2-1 sessions follow on after our initial consultation, training plan and management has been started. We advise a follow up 2-3 weeks after.
Often during a Training Consultation, we can't cover all concerns and include a practical part addressing all behaviours. Our priority is to help your dog feel comfortable and relaxed and some behaviours may require a follow-up session. During working through a training plan, you may need us to extend training, adding distraction, teach further cues or adjust the plan as you and your dog move forward together.

We are always happy to work with you and your dog on training walks, where we can join you exercising your dog and continuing training. This is useful for confidence and reading body language, to better understand your pet's communication, as well as continue working through your pet's Training Plan. Using training in outdoor situations and with greater distractions where you may need support
